Born in Brooklyn, NY, Walter Levine is truly the definition of "success story". From his humble beginnings, growing up in the tenements, Walter Levine has beaten the odds (in more ways than one) to achieve the highest level of personal and professional success building several successful businesses.
Walter started his entrepreneurial life at age 6 selling clothespins to his neighbors. As a teen, he dropped out of high school and later became a highly successful hair stylist, working at many exclusive salons most notably the Fontainebleau in Miami before going on to owning his own salons. Some of his most famous clients were Lucille Ball, Edie Gorme, Barbra Streisand, Phyllis McGuire and Jane Morgan.
Walter's enigmatic personality and professional drive led him to a Dictograph burglar alarm franchise. As a "salesman extraordinaire", Walter became the number one sales manager worldwide for five years in a row. He was responsible for growing this business into a multi-million dollar enterprise, becoming one of the top 20 alarm companies in the U.S. with over 100 employees. Using his gift for training and motivating sales forces, Bahama Realty and Dictograph selected Walter to develop and conduct sales training programs for regional sales forces totaling over 4,000 sales people worldwide.
Ready to take entrepreneurship to new levels, Walter turned over the management of the alarm business to his son, Steve. Ready for his next challenge, Walter mortgaged it all and went into equipment leasing syndication business, expanding into oil and gas exploration syndication as well as real estate syndication partnerships. Walter personally built and trained a 200 person sales force with 10 offices nationwide, enabling the company to grow into a multi million dollar business.
Walter's forte for taking on challenges and overcoming obstacles is not only confined to business. In 1991, Walter was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, mylanoma, and bladder cancers. After a stem cell transplant and taking sea cucumber/TBL-12, Walter continues to be in full remission. (click here for full story.) After his private meeting with Mother Theresa, Walter's enthusiasm for helping others became even more important leading him to re-affirm his mantra “How Can I Help You?”
Another highlight in Walter's lifetime of achievements occurred in May 2004 when he was awarded an honorary PhD in humane letters from the University of Bridgeport. Walter was a guest lecturer and hosted the M. Walter Levine Lecture Series at the University, which proved to be a campus favorite for two years.
Walter was also honored by the Boy Scouts of America and presented The Good Scout Award, which is given annually to an individual who embodies the spirit of scouting. In both his business and professional life, the recipient must display integrity and a commitment to serving and helping others. Further, the Good Scout Award recipient must always be an inspiration and example for our youth.
In addition to these and many other activities and ventures, Walter has also managed wrestlers and writers. He is currently involved in several business such as AtmosAir, an air purification business which was recently installed into the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium and High Speed Video, a real-time video conferencing system which is used exclusively by Major League Baseball and others.
